In the dark emptiness of one black page a single line reverberates. The line on the page is action, it is a verb, it divides the space. I touch that line and its residue and record its presence on paper. A one line drawing gets to the quintessence of my String Game. With the sparest of means my drawings acquire presence.

My String Game offers a glimpse of the idea behind the idea, the scaffolding on which we create meaning. In art history we sometimes talk about how there are diagonal lines of tension and calming horizontal lines. Without the people, the buildings or the mountains, I draw just the lines.
The drawings frame views, details and aerial shots from a larger abstract landscape. They capture a moment in time as do most photographs.
